While diode lasers are a more versatile type of technology for permanent hair removal, some areas of the body cannot be treated, such as the ears, nose, mucous membranes, eyelids and broken skin. On the other hand, parts of the body that are tattooed, scarred or areas with cold sores, herpes, abrasions or lesions must be carefully covered during laser hair removal.
